High school roundup, Feb. 12: Doe, Eagles roll on Senior Night
Zi Doe scored 26 points in the first and Hilton Head Christian Academy (16-6, 7-1) cruised to a 69-9 victory over Memorial Day School.
Jossie Frazier added 10, and Molly Lucci chipped in nine. Meredith Inglis and Cortney Gray each had eight as all the girls saw of playing time.
Stall 43, Hilton Head Island 31: In the final game of the season, the Seahawks gave the Warriors (17-5) a battle in the second half after trailing 21-8 at the half.
“Regardless of our winless record this season, we’ve never stopped working in practices or games,” Hilton Head Island head coach Sean Rochester said. “They never gave up, pointed fingers, or argued. This season provided them every opportunity to do that, but the leadership of our team never allowed our chemistry to fall apart. We’re blessed with a great group of girls.”
The second half started with an unlikely spark — senior Kelly Mianowski knocked down a 3-pointer, her first points of the season, to start a 17-6 run for the Seahawks over the next 8 minutes of basketball. The run was punctuated by a Mariah Mervin 3-pointer, making the score 32-27 as Stall called timeout.
The Seahawks never got closer.
Mariah Mervin led the Seahawks with 11 points, and Da’Nesha Miller grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to finish as the region’s leading rebounder with nearly eight per game.

Abby Quinty had 13 points, while Colleton Graves added 12.
