The Beaufort Academy boys basketball team pulled out a 70-55 victory Thursday night on Senior Night against the visiting Thomas Heyward Rebels in Beaufort.

Leading scorers for Beaufort Academy, Kevin Williams and Luke Harper, scored 27 points each. Thomas Heyward's Bryce Tillotson had his team's high total with 14.

As for the Eagles’ seniors, Cain Richards had three rebounds, Alec Melville grabbed eight rebounds and Ross Walker added eight points.

The Eagles started off strong in the first half thanks to great ball handling and strong passing. The Rebels helped the Eagles’ cause with an overly aggressive full-court press which led to multiple long tosses by Beaufort Academy over the defense to teammates waiting all-but unguarded on the offensive end.

Still, by the end of the first half, the Rebels had made an impressive run to tie the score at 35.

Thomas Heyward stayed close with Beaufort Academy keeping the score close until late in the fourth quarter when the Eagles pulled away.

Beaufort Academy improves to 16-6 (10-4) and clinches second place in SCISA Flex Region IV-AA.

BA travels to Charleston Collegiate on Tuesday.
