Ridgeland-Hardeeville No. 1 in 2-A in latest hoops polls

The Ridgeland-Hardeeville boys basketball team made the move this week from No. 2 to the top spot in the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association’s Class 2-A rankings.

The Jaguars are 18-3 through Monday and have clinched their third straight Region 5-AA championship. Their top players include junior guard Trei’von Anderson (averaging 15.7 points, 4.1 assists and 2.8 steals), senior forward Trenard Ferrell (14.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.8 blocks), senior forward Gaylus Bailey (10.9 points, 6.2 rebounds) and junior guard Kamrin Waddy (9.4 points, 3.7 assists, 2.4 steals).

The Battery Creek boys remain No. 7 in Class 2-A. The Dolphins are 17-6 and 7-2 in Region 6-AA through Monday.

The Ridgeland-Hardeeville girls are 17-2, 9-0 in Region 5-AA. The Jaguars were ranked No. 2 last week but were not in this week’s rankings.
