Girls Lowcountry 5: Whale Branch's Shaniqua Johnson

With the high school basketball season set to get into full swing, the Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette sports staff has selected its inaugural Lowcountry 5 teams to honor the top five boys and girls players in Beaufort and Jasper counties.

Shaniqua Johnson, Sr., F -- Whale Branch Early College High School

2013-14 stats: 10.5 ppg, 6.9 rpg

Johnson had to pick up some of the load when fellow post player Jonae Riley tore her ACL last season. Now both are healthy and hoping to create matchup problems down low. An honorable mention selection on our all-area team last year, Johnson should be ready for a solid senior year under first-year coach Shyronda Mifflin.
