Playoff roundup: Hilton Head Prep boys roll into SCISA semifinals

The Hilton Head Prep boys used a big first half on its way to advancing in the SCISA boys basketball playoffs.

Sean Cusano poured in a game-high 27 points as the Dolphins defeated Cardinal Newman, 69-56, in the SCISA 3A quarterfinals at Sumter Civic Center on Wednesday.

Hilton Head Prep will face First Baptist in the semifinals at 5 p.m. on Friday at the Sumter Civic Center. The winner advances to Saturday’s championship game.

Hilton Head Prep opened the game on a 16-4 run and led 36-15 at halftime.

JJ Hayes added 14 points for HHP.

Jordan Frazer led Cardinal Newman with 20 points and Gerald Gray had 18.

Spartanburg Day 63, Beaufort Academy 39

Braydon Dineen scored 14 points and Amarion Wilson had eight as Beaufort Academy lost in the SCISA 2A boys quarterfinals Tuesday.

Cardinal Newman 54, Hilton Head Prep 33

South Carolina signee Ashlyn Watkins had 19 points, 22 rebounds and 11 blocks to help Cardinal Newman past Hilton Head Prep in the SCISA 3A girls quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Lauren Jacobs added 16 points for CN, which had just six available players.

Katie Campbell led Prep with 10 points.
