Hilton Head Christian, Beaufort Academy girls move on in SCISA basketball playoffs

The Hilton Head Christian and Beaufort Academy girls moved into the SCISA Class 2A semifinals on Monday night.

HHCA jumped out a big lead in defeating Greenwood Christian, 71-,20 while Beaufort Academy edged Pee Dee Academy, 51-48, in overtime at the Sumter Civic Center.

Hilton Head Christian will play Palmetto Christian in the semifinals at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sumter Civic Center. BA gets Orangeburg Prep at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sumter Civic Center. The two winners play in the state championship on Saturday.

In HHCA’s win, three players scored in double figures led by Abby Peduzzi and Skylar Hutchinson’s 18 points apiece. Skylar Smith added 14. The Eagles led 28-4 after the first quarter.

For Beaufort Academy, Tahleea Heyward led the way with 20 points in the victory.

Ashley Martin led Pee Dee with 20 points and Lizzie McCaskill added 12.

Orangeburg Prep 37, John Paul II 19

Orangeburg Prep coach Jan Stoudemire picked up her 700th victory as John Paul II’s season came to an end in the second round of the SCISA 2A playoffs.

Brady Mohoney led the Warriors with 10 points, three rebounds and two steals in the loss. Maddie Heathcott added four points, five rebounds and two blocks.

Military Magnet 56, Whale Branch 44

Dream Watson scored 18 points and Chazmin Bradley had 12 as the Military Magnet ended Whale Beanch’s postseason run in the SCHSL Class A playoffs.

It was Military Magnet’s third win of the season over Whale Branch. Military Magnet led 13-4 after the first quarter and will play Lake View in the Lower State championship on Saturday in Florence.

Kynew Barnwell led the way for Whale Branch with 28 points.
