Beaufort Academy, Hilton Head Christian girls advance to SCISA state championship games

The Beaufort Academy and Hilton Head Christian girls basketball teams moved one away from state titles Thursday night.

Beaufort Academy rolled past Patrick Henry, 71-49, in the SCISA Class A semifinals at Wilson Hall. The Eagles will play Dorchester Academy for the state title Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Sumter Civic Center.

Beaufort Academy is going for its second straight title. Mike’Ala Washington led Beaufort Academy with 23 points. Amelia Huebel had 18 and Tahleea Heyward scored 13.

Hilton Head Christian is one victory away from its third straight SCISA 2A championship after the 57-46 victory over Oakbrook Prep at the Sumter Civic Center. The Eagles play Spartanburg Christian on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Dior Shelton led HHCA with 18 points and Brielle Mcarthy added 11 as Hilton Head Christian broke open a close game in the third quarter. The Eagles led Oakbrook 24-23 at halftime.
