John Paul II girls, Ridgeland-Hardeeville boys win preseason tournaments

Tkai Devore’s basket at the buzzer gave John Paul II a 33-31 win over Pinewood Christian to win the St. Vincent’s Thanksgiving Classic on Tuesday.

After Pinewood tied it with 25 seconds left, DeVore held the ball until about four seconds left before driving to the basket for the game-winner. She finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Jasmine Hamilton added six points and Katie Leigh Floyd and Bella Termini each had four points for John Paul II.

Hilton Head Christian 64, Hammond 44

Jasmine Campbell had 20 points and Brielle McCarthy added 18 in the Eagles win over Hammond on Tuesday.

Dior Shelton added 12 for HHCA. Lauren Scott led Hammond with 14 points.

Boys

Ridgeland-Hardeeville 51, Whale Branch 47

Mauriq Singleton scored 20 points as the Jaguars defeated Whale Branch to win the Earl Campbell Preseason Tournament.

Rashard Baker added 12 points for the Jags.

Shawn Chisolm led Whale Branch with 20 points and Nick Pringle scored 14.
