Lowcountry roundup: Hilton Head Prep boys win playoff opener

CHARLESTON – Hilton Head Prep used a big first half to win their SCISA 2A playoff opener.

The Dolphins led 43-8 lead at halftime on their way to a 62-50 win over Thomas Sumter held at Pinewood Prep.

HHP plays Christian Academy at the Sumter Civic Center on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Haddith Stewart led the Dolphins with 21 points while Avern Montaque scored 16 points and had 10 boards. Tyrone Calloway added 13 points and Stone McDonald led the team with 14 boards.

Trintiy-Byrnes 86, John Paul II 35

SUMTER – Trinity-Byrnes’ Jordan Jones scored 21 points as the Titans advanced in the SCISA Class 2A playoffs at Wilson Hall.

CJ Miles scored 18, LaSauhn McFadden had 16, and Terance Mack added 10 points for Trinity-Byrnes.

Rashad Battiste led the Warriors, who were making their first playoff appearance, with 16 points and Amere Cherry had eight.
