Lowcountry roundup: Hilton Head Prep wins final tuneup before playoffs

Hilton Head Prep wrapped up an undefeated region season by beating Colleton Prep 78-38 on Tuesday in boys basketball action.

Haddith Stewart led the team in scoring with 18 points. Senior Ian Plummer, was right behind with 16 points. Tyrone Calloway dropped in nine points and senior Nick Lalli, who got his first start of the season on senior night, and led the team with five rebounds to go along with eight points.

The Dolphins open up the SCISA 2A tournament against Thomas Sumter on Saturday at Pinewood Prep.

Ridgeland-Hardeeville 66, Lake Marion 44

The No. 2-ranked Jaguars rolled in their Class 3A playoff opener.

Ridgeland-Hardeeville will host Dillon in a second round game Friday night.

Rashamel Butler had 19 points and four assists, and Diamonte Robinson added 11. Devin Butler scored 13 points, and ;Jabari Williams poured in 12 points and had13 rebounds.

John Paul 56, St. Andrews 53

The Warriors clinched the third spot in SCISA 4-2A and earned a spot in the state tournament for the first time in program history.

John Paul II will play Trinity-Byrnes at 1:30 p.m. in the first round of the SCISA 2A tournament Saturday at Wilson Hall.

GIRLS

John Paul II 37, St. Andrews 23

Takai Devore scored 16 points and had six steals in the Warriors’ regular-season finale.

Ayannah Thompson led the team with nine rebounds. John Paul II will begin the playoffs this weekend.

JP: Devore 16, Barker 5, Thompson 5, Floyd 4.

Colleton Prep 32, Hilton Head Prep 29

Olivia Light led the Dolphins with 14 points and Ella Clark had 11.

Kierstin Clark had seven assists, and senior Alana McCallion finished with eight rebounds.
