Lowcountry roundup: Ridgeland-Hardeeville boys capture region title
Ridgeland-Hardeeville boys wrapped up another region title with a 64-59 win over Bluffton on Thursday.
It is the Jaguars’ fifth straight region crown, the last two coming since moving up to Class 3A.
Rashamel Butler scored 18 points and Devin Butler chipped in with 15 to lead R-H, which used a 16-7 in the fourth to break up a close game.
Jermaine Patterson led Bluffton with 21.
R-H begins playoffs at home Tuesday, while Bluffton is on the road.
Hilton Head 58, Beaufort 42
The Seahawks outscored the Eagles, 18-7, in the third quarter to defeat their rivals in the regular season finale.
Chris Washington led Hilton Head with 20 while Trevor Wright had 19 and Davis Malloy 12. Dajon Galloway scored 13 to lead Beaufort.
The Seahawks finish fourth in the region and open up the 4A playoffs at top-ranked Wilson on Wednesday.
Thomas Heyward 69, Colleton Prep 37
Trace Lowther and Bryce Tillotson each had 18 points in the Rebels.
Owen White scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Zack Black had 11.
GIRLS
Ridgeland-Hardeeville 47, Bluffton 44
The Jaguars overcame an 11-point second-half deficit to defeat the Bobcats in the regular-season finale.
Que Drayton led R-H with 22 points and her three-point play gave the Jaguars a 45-44 lead with less than 20 seconds left. Jamee Mack added 11 points.
Allayah Bryan led Bluffton with 15 points and Tatyana Aiken added 12.
R-H opens the playoffs at home while Bluffton will be on the road.
Beaufort 40, Hilton Head Island 15
The Eagles wrapped up a playoff spot with a win over the Seahawks.
Brittany Linton led Beaufort with 13pts and Jhaniya Lynch 10. Beaufort opens up the 4A playoffs on the road at Myrtle Beach.
