Lowcountry roundup: Bluffton’s Patterson makes college choice

Bluffton standout Jermaine Patterson has made his college choice.

According to Phenom Hoops, the Bobcats guard verbally committed to Division II Queens College in North Carolina. Queens is the No. 2 ranked team in Division II. The 2017 Island Packet Player of the Year and all-state selection is averaging 28.5 points and five rebounds a game this season.

Patterson will be able to sign beginning April 11 during the spring signing period for basketball.

The senior also was a standout on the football field and was selected to the Shrine Bowl and had more than 1,000 yards receiving.

Haddith Stewart and Tyrone Calloway each poured in 18 points as the Dolphins who notched their 20th victory of the season.

Avern Montague added 12 points and Jack Braun scored 10 for HHP.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Thomas Heyward 35, Hilton Head Prep 23

THA finished the game on a 10-0 for the win over the Dolphins.

Alayna DeLong led the Rebels with nine points while Gabby Boys had eight and Ivy Bryan with seven.

Kierstine Clark led HHP with 10 points and Julia Gigante had six.
