Lowcountry roundup: Ridgeland-Hardeeville boys suffer first loss

Ridgeland-Hardeeville’s bid for an unbeaten regular season ended Friday with a 59-55 loss to Wade Hampton.

The Jaguars (19-1, 6-1) were one of only two unbeaten boys’ teams in the state along with Loris.

Rashamel Butler led R-H with 34 points, seven rebounds and four steals. The Jags can clinch the region title if May River beats Bluffton on Saturday or if they defeat Bluffton on Thursday.

Colleton County 79, Hilton Head Island 64

Tristan Nieves had a game-high 32 points in the win for Colleton. Colleton outscored the Seahawks 29-18 in the second quarter to take control of the game.

De’jaige Ferguson and Nyeem Green each had 12 points for Colleton.

Davis Malloy led Hilton Head with 23 points. Chris Washington added 14 and Trevor Wright had 11.

Hilton Head Christian 53, Beaufort Academy 44

Floyd Hargrove scored 23 points, and Brennen Studenc added 17 for HHCA.

Dawson Coleman led BA with 25 points.

GIRLS

Ridgeland-Hardeeville 48, Wade Hampton 23

The third-ranked Jaguars clinched their fourth straight region title.

Battery Creek 49, May River 31

Taquasia Lampkin scored 12 points, grabbed six boards and blocked three shots for the Dolphins (16-5).

John Paul 32, Hilton Head Prep 27

John Paul II jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the first quarter on its way to the win over HHP.

Abigail Barker led the way with nine points and seven rebounds. Abby Quinty added seven, Tkai Devore had six while Ayannah Thompson and Jasmine Hamilton both had five.

Kierstin Clark led the Dolphins (6-12, 3-6) with nine points.

Colleton County 30, Hilton Head 22

Omari Kirkland scored 13 points as Colleton pulled away in the second half for the win over the Seahawks,

Miley Ray led Hilton Head with seven points, while Caroline Brammer added six.

Hilton Head Christian 52, Beaufort Academy 38

Jossie Frazier scored 27 points as Hilton Head Christian (16-1, 9-0) kept is perfect record intact.

Brielle McCarthy added 12 points for HHCA.

Kendall Duncan scored 10 points in the loss for Beaufort Academy. Amelia Huebel and Karolina Struharova each had nine.
