Lowcountry roundup: Ridgeland-Hardeeville boys extend unbeaten streak
Unbeaten Ridgeland-Hardeeville overcame a slow start to defeat Bluffton, 60-51, on Friday in boys’ basketball action.
The Jaguars, who trailed by as many as five points, outscored the Bobcats 23-11 in the second quarter to go to 16-0 on the season. Rashamel Butler scored 20 points and Devin Butler added 12 points for Ridgeland-Hardeeville.
Wade Hampton 56, May River 50
Camden Davis scored 16 points in the Sharks’ loss to Wade Hampton.
Lowcountry Leadership 60, John Paul II 52
Lowcountry overcame a five-point halftime deficit in the win over John Paul II.
Freshman Amere Cherry led JP II (7-9, 3-1) with 23 points, six rebounds and four steals. Junior Rashad Battiste finished with 17 points and eight rebounds before fouling out early in the fourth quarter.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
May River 56, Wade Hampton 46 (OT)
Chynna Sneed scored 15 points to lead May River, who outscored Wade Hampton 14-4 in overtime.
Emma Peluso chipped in with 11 points, and Gracyn Drury had 10.
Hilton Head Christian 48, Thomas Heyward 7
Jasmine Campbell scored 19 points and Brielle McCarthy added 11 for the Eagles (12-1)..
Colleton Prep 35, Hilton Head Prep 29
Ella Clark had 10 points and Annie Braun had 8 points for the Dolphins (3-9, 0-4).
Ridgeland-Hardeeville 51, Bluffton 44
The Jaguars (10-2, 4-0) won their 10th straight game with a win over the Bobcats.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville trailed by three going into the fourth quarter but took the lead, 40-39, on a Jamee Mack 3-pointer.
Tatyana Aiken led Blufton with 15 points, and Judaah Mitchell had 11.
John Paul II 82, Lowcountry Leadership 7
Tkai Devore led fourplayers in double figures with 17 points.
Ayannah Thompson added 13 points, while Abigail Barker and Abby Quinty both scored 11.
