Lowcountry roundup: Bluffton completes sweep of rival Hilton Head

Bluffton used a strong fourth quarter to complete the season sweep over Hilton Head, 69-53, on Friday in boys high school basketball action.

The Bobcats outscored the Seahawks, 24-15, in the fourth to pull away for the win.

Jermaine Patterson scored 21 points, and Donovan Raines added 19. Trevor Wright led Hilton Head with 20 points, and Chris Washington had 10.

Palmetto Christian 83, Hilton Head Prep 81

Palmetto Christian's Cole Silverster banked in a game-winning 3-pointer as Palmetto Christian improved to 10-0 on the season.

It was HHP’s first loss of the year. The Dolphins are 7-1.

Haddith Stewart led the Dolphins in scoring with 23 followed by Ian Plummer with 20 and Tyrone Calloway with 16. Avern Montaque, who was in foul trouble the entire game, tied with Stone McDonald for the rebounds with nine.

John Paul II 58, St. Andrews 53

Freshman Amere Cherry scored 23 points and went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in the final two minutes.

With the win, John Paul II is 3-5 and 1-0 in region play.

Thomas Heyward 62, Habersham School 50

Zack Black had 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Rebels moved to 8-1 on the season.

Owen White led THA with 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds. JR Patterson added 10 points.

GIRLS

Bluffton 45, Hilton Head 26

Judaah Mitchell scored 18 points as the Bluffton girls completed a sweep of their rivals

Tatyana Aiken added 12 points for the Bobcats, who led 27-14 at halftime.

Battery Creek 47, Beaufort 42

Taquasia Lampkin scored 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the Dolphins improved to 8-0.

Lampkin also had six blocks. Kevea Sanders added 10 points for BC.

BC: Jayden Thompson 8, Kevea Sanders 10, Trinity Coney 5, Kendrianna Shojgreen 2, Taquasia Lampkin 17, Coresha Rutledge 5.

John Paul II 52, St. Andrews 31

Tkai Devore scored 20 points, had 18 rebounds and six assists in John Paul II’s region-opening win.

Jasmine Hamilton had eight points and Abby Quinty added six points and six rebounds. Ayannah Thompson had six points, seven rebounds and six steals. Katie Leigh Floyd added scored four points and had three steals.

Palmetto Christian 43, Hilton Head Prep 13

Kierstin Clark had six points to lead HHP.
