Lowcountry roundup: Hilton Head boys start strong in win over Whale Branch

Hilton Head jumped out to a 23-6 lead on its way to a 51-24 win over Whale Branch on Tuesday in boys basketball action.

Chris Washington led Hilton Head with 17 points, while Trevor Wright had 12 and Lance Jackson scored 10.

Bluffton 76, South Effingham (Ga,) 50

Jermaine Patterson scored 27, and the Bobcats moved to 7-0 on the season.

Donovan Raines added 16 and Ramell Rivers scored 15 for the Bobcats.

Ridgeland-Hardeeville 56, Lake Marion 55

The Jaguars moved to 6-0 with a one-point win over the Gators.

Frederica Academy 47, Hilton Head Christian 23

Daniel Harrington scored seven points and Lukas O’Grady had six for HHCA.

GIRLS

Battery Creek 43, Savannah (Ga.) 29

Kevea Sanders scored 14 points as the Dolphins improved to 7-0 on the season.

Hilton Head Christian 40, Frederica Academy 30

The Eagles outscored Frederica 17-6 in the fourth quarter to pick up the win.

Jossie Frazier led the way with 14 points and Dior Shelton added nine. Brielle McCarthy had seven and Cortney Gray chipped in with six.

Beaufort 44, May River 37

Led by Darien Watkins’ 16 points, the Eagles defeated the Sharks.

Layla Warren and Brittany Linton each added nine for Beaufort (5-3).

Hilton Head 43, Whale Branch 32

Niki Farizy scored 16 points and Caroline Brammer had eight in the Seahawks’ win.

The Seahawks held the Warriors to 16 points in the first three quarters.

South Effingham (Ga.) 63, Bluffton 54

Judaah Mitchell led three Bluffton players in double figures with 26.

Tatyana Aiken and Kennedy Barber each added 10 for the Bobcats.

Ridgeland-Hardeeville 63, Lake Marion 25

The Jaguars outscored the Gators 40-7 in the second half for the victory.
