Lowcountry basketball roundup: Battery Creek boys win buzzer-beater over Hilton Head

Brandon Wilson scored nine points including the game-winner put-back as time expired to give Battery Creek a 44-42 win over Hilton Head on Tuesday in boys basketball action.

Wilson also had nine rebounds for the Dolphins. DaQuan Burton led BC with 12 points.

Hilton Head trailed 41-37 in the fourth quarter but Lance Jackson hit a 3-pointer to pull the Seahawks within 41-40 with two minutes left.

After Trey Chaney’s free throw put BC up 42-40 with 39 seconds left. Chris Washington scored on a rebound to tie it at 42 with 30 seconds left.

Washington led Hilton Head with 11 points. Tyreke Young scored nine.

Bluffton 73, Beaufort 54

Jermaine Patterson scored 27 points, had six rebounds and six assists to help Bluffton defeat Beaufort.

Ramell Rivers and Richard Jenkins each added 15 points, while Donovan Raines had eight for the Bobcats, who moved to 3-0 on the season.

Hilton Head Prep 63, Frederica 43

Hilton Head Prep used a 26-4 run in second quarter for the victory.

Avern Montaque had 20 points and 12 rebounds and Tyler Rice came off the bench to add 10 points for the Dolphins (4-0).

Benedictine Military 81, John Paul II 41

Junior Rashad Battiste led JPII with 15 points and six rebounds in his first game back from an ACL injury.

GIRLS

Battery Creek 57, Hilton Head 48

The Dolphins moved to 4-0 with a win over the Seahawks.

Taquasia Lampkin scored 21 points, had four rebounds, three blocks and three steals to lead BC. Trinity Coney added 13 points, five assists and two steals.

Bluffton 36, Beaufort 33

Tatyana Aiken cored 17 points, including the go-ahead free throws with five minutes left to help the Bobcats to the win.

Juddah Mitchell added nine points for Bluffton.

Brittany Linton and Darien Watkins each scored eight points for Beaufort.

Hilton Head Christian 44, Memorial Day 7

HHCA held Memorial held Memorial to one point in the first half on its way to the win.

Jasmine Campbell, Addy O’Grady and Dior Shelton each had eight points. Jossie Frazier and Cortney Gray added six apiece and Margaret Edens and Brielle McCarthy chipped in with four.

Frederica 35, Hilton Head Prep 16

Olivia Light had five points and 10 rebounds, and Ella Clark chipped with 5 points for HHP.

Thomas Heyward 51, Andrew Jackson 13

Ivy Bryan had a game-high 22 points in THA’s win over Andrew Jackson.

MONDAY

St. Vincent 48 John Paul II 46

Tkai Devore’s big night wasn’t enough for the John Paul II girls against St. Vincent.

Devore had 28 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks and three steals in the 58-46 loss Monday night.

Devore also was 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. Ayannah Thompson added six points and eight boards and Jasmine Hamilton had seven points.
