Lowcountry roundup: Wright’s jumper lifts Hilton Head over Whale Branch

Trevor Wright hit a 3-pointer with 3.3 seconds left to give Hilton Head a 46-43 win over Whale Branch on Tuesday.

Wright finished with 13 points and Chris Washington had 11.

Bluffton 48, Beaufort 45

Jermaine Patterson scored 23 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with two minutes left, to lead the Bobcats past the Eagles.

Andrew Jackson 73, Thomas Heyward 64

Zack Black and Bruzza Pusha each had 16 points in THA’s loss.

GIRLS

Beaufort 36, Bluffton 33

Darien Watkins hit seven 3-pointers and scored 21 points as Beaufort moved to 2-1 on the season.

Tatyana Aiken led Bluffton with 11.

Hilton Head Island 48, Whale Branch 22

Kristen Fielding had 14 points and Miley Ray scored 11 in the Seahawks’ victory.

Thomas Heyward 40, Andrew Jackson 12

Ivy Bryan scored 15 and Bayli Belger added 14 for THA, which improved to 3-0 on season.

The Lady Eagles came up with the road victory last night outscoring SCPS 46-27. Defense was the key to the victory holding the opponent to just 4 field goals in the first half.

Hilton Head Christian 46, Savannah Christian 27

Jasmine Campbell scored 14 points including 6-of-6 from the free-throw line for HHCA in the win.

Brielle McCarthy had 13 points and Jossie Frazier chipped in with seven. Dior Shelton added six points and Mary Yanker four points) and Addy O'Grady (two points) rounded out the scoring.
