High school basketball result: Bluffton boys vs. May River

May River 57, Bluffton 47: Avern Montaque and Isaiah Bynum scored 13 points apiece as the Sharks beat their crosstown rivals in a playoff for third place in Region 8-3A.

May River beat the Bobcats for the second time in three meetings, earning a matchup against 10th-ranked Strom Thurmond in Tuesday’s playoff opener. The alternative was a road trip to No.4 Brookland-Cayce, where the Bobcats are now slotted.

Bluffton’s Jermaine Patterson led all scorers with 32 points.
