High school soccer result: John Paul II boys vs. Covenant

The John Paul II Golden Warriors topped Covenant 8-1 in a state quarterfinal game Monday.

Karl Johnson scored two goals and Marcello Vera, Sebastian Laverde, Ethan Prado, Henry Centeno, Elijah Moreno and Colin Byrne each added one. Vera had two assists and Karl Johnson, Jalen Mutrie and Colin Byrne chipped in one apiece.

Nyleem Wright and Jonathan Barragan split time in goal for the Golden Warriors.

JPII will host Palmetto Christian Academy at 5 p.m. in a semifinal.
