May River wrestling coach appointed for North/South All-Star Matches

May River’s Ashley Powell has been named to serve on the South coaching staff for this spring’s North/South All-Star Matches in North Myrtle Beach.

The matches will be held March 2-4. Each side is represented by two teams – one for Class 4A and 1A all-stars, another for Class 3A and 2A.

Powell came to the Sharks after three years at Westwood, where he guided the Redhawks to Class 4A region titles and the Upper State semifinals each of the past two seasons. He was last year’s Region 4-4A coach of the year.
