Bobcats, Seahawks each land 2 players on All-State volleyball teams
Bluffton's Annie Franklin and Megan Briody, keystones in the Bobcats' run to next week's Class 3A Lower State volleyball final, and the Hilton Head Island duo of Alexxis Andreas and Sydney Janson have been named All-State selections in voting by the state's coaches.
Franklin, a senior, was named the Region 8-3A Player of the Year at the end of the regular season. Along with Briody, a junior outside hitter, the Bobcats are one of just three teams to place two players on the Class 3A All-State roster.
One of the other two is Bishop England, which visits the Bobcats on Monday night for the Lower State crown.
Andreas, a senior libero, was the Region 8-4A Player of the Year as the Seahawks saw their bid for a second state title derailed in the Lower State semifinals. Janson is a junior outside hitter.
Franklin and Andreas, along with Hilton Head's Da'Nesha Miller, also were selected for this month's North/South All-Star matches to be played Nov. 19 at Erskine College.
