Bluffton takes runner-up honors at Class 3A girls’ golf championship
Bluffton parlayed a trio of top-20 individual performances into a runner-up finish at the Class 3A girls' state golf championship, trailing only back-to-back champions Bishop England after Tuesday's conclusion at Fountain Inn.
Sophia Burnett followed up an opening 73 with an 81 at Carolina Springs Golf Club, leaving her tops among the Bobcats and tied for seventh overall.
Bishop England cruised to the team title with a 645 team total, with the Bobcats next at 687. Powdersville was a distant third (700).
May River (727) placed seventh in its first year of existence, with Kathryn Thorne scoring a top-10 finish after rounds of 80-76.
Bluffton's Camila Burnett (76-85) wound up 13th among individuals, with Kaylia McIntyre (86-84) earning a share of 18th. Lexi Adams completed the Bobcats’ quartet with rounds of 99-103.
