Beaufort Academy upended No.1 seed Coastal Christian to launch a run to the SCISA Class 1A volleyball semifinals last weekend, ultimately ousted by Mead Hall with a championship berth on the line.

The Eagles handed Coastal Christian just its second loss of the season in the tournament opener in Myrtle Beach, following up with a sweep of Cambridge Academy. BA then took Wardlaw Academy, another No.1 seed, to overtime in its opening set before losing 28-26, 25-14.

Moving to the losers’ bracket, BA came back from a seven-point deficit to sweep Cathedral Academy for a spot in the semifinals. Next came Mead Hall, where the Eagles won the first set 25-19 before losing the next two as their season came to an end.

BA’s Alyssa Patrick was named to the All-Region team, leading an Eagles team that loses no seniors for next season. Mead Hall and Wardlaw Academy were set to square off in Monday’s championship match.
