Thomas Heyward’s unbeaten run halted in SCISA volleyball tourney

Thomas Heyward extended its volleyball winning streak to 17 matches before running out of steam at the SCISA Class 2A tournament, suffering back-to-back losses to see their season end in the quarterfinals in Myrtle Beach.

The Rebels beat Williamsburg Academy and Spartanburg Day in its first two matches, then took the opening set in their showdown with fellow top seed Thomas Sumter. However, the Generals roared back to take the next two sets 25-15 and 25-9 to send THA to the loser’s bracket.

The pattern was the same against Palmetto Christian, with Thomas Heyward winning the first set but dropping the final two by scores of 25-21 and 25-20.
