High school girls’ golf result: Class 4A regional at Lady’s Island CC
Emma Hayward fired an 84 and Madeline Prince added an 89 as Hilton Head Island cruised past Beaufort to capture the Region 8-4A girls' golf title on Friday at Lady's Island Country Club.
The Seahawks compiled a team score of 380, leaving them 30 strokes ahead of Beaufort as the teams returned to the course on little preparation after Hurricane Matthew strafed the Lowcountry last weekend.
Ashley Taylor led the Eagles with a 92, while Izzy Stone carded a 95. Hilton Head Island also got a 99 from Morgan Caramello.
Competition continues Monday with the Class 4A Lower State tournament at Hartsville Country Club. That tournament originally was scheduled for Port Royal's Barony Golf Course, but had to relocate after Matthew's destruction.
