High school tennis result: John Paul II vs. St. Andrew’s

John Paul II 5, St. Andrews 4: Margaret Bacevich and Samantha Reilly won their singles matches, then teamed for the deciding doubles point that lifted John Paul II to its first tennis victory in school history.

Jayne Trumps and Katherine Reilly added singles wins for the Golden Warriors (1-7), playing their first season of varsity tennis. JP2 swept the lower four matches in the singles draw while St. Andrew’s prevailed in the No. 1 and No. 2 slots.

Bacevich dispatched Allison Zadar by a 6-4, 6-1 score, while Samantha Reilly was a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Isabelle Powers to put the Golden Warriors within a point of victory. Though St. Andrew’s also swept the top two doubles matches, Bacevich and Reilly clinched victory with an 8-2 triumph over Powers and Sydney Bacon.
