High school sports, Aug. 25: Lower-end rally lifts Beaufort Academy tennis
Lila Alcott and Juliana Lane led a rally from the lower end of the lineup as Beaufort Academy won its girls’ tennis opener Wednesday with a 5-4 triumph over Colleton Prep.
Though the Eagles lost the No. 1 and 2 matches in both singles and doubles, the rest of the lineup came through to sweep the other five matches. Alcott was a 6-3, 6-0 winner in No. 3 singles, while Lane dropped only one game in her victory.
Emily Potter and Caroline Moss captured the remaining two singles matches, and the tandem of Ansleigh Pingree and Leith Gray provided the deciding point in winning the No. 3 doubles.
