May River hires eight new coaches, including two more from Bluffton

May River High School athletic director Brett Macy continues to go to the well – or Bluffton High School – to fill coaching spots in the county’s newest high school athletic program.

Macy, himself a former Bluffton coach, announced Monday the hires of swimming coach Eric Kemeny and track/cross country coach Brian Ryman, who bring the number of former Bluffton coaches on Macy’s staff up to four.

In March the Sharks hired baseball coach Keith Stewart and boys basketball coach Matt Whitmore, both of whom left Bluffton for May River.

Kemeny has coached swimming at Bluffton since 2006 and has a total of 18 years of coaching experience. Ryman was head coach at Bluffton this year and an assistant the year before, and he was the head track coach at Woodmore High School (Elmore, Ohio) from 2009-2014.

Kemeny and Ryman are just two of the seven hires announced Monday.

Beaufort County’s newest high school will open in August and compete in Region 8-AAA.
