High school sports, April 23: John Paul II has 6-goal outburst in boys’ soccer

Noah Brock scored two goals and assisted on two others Friday night in propelling John Paul II to a 6-1 boys’ soccer victory over Cathedral Academy.

Jalen Mutrie and Elijah Moreno also scored two goals apiece for the Golden Warriors, while Kyle Calkins tallied two assists and Tyler Klein added an assist.

Moreno, Sebastian Laverde and Alex Thaller combined for six saves in the JP2 goal.

BASEBALL

Summerville 11, Bluffton 0: Tim Ortega had two of the Bobcats’ three hits as Bluffton was stymied for the second time in a week by an NCAA Division I signee in Summerville colors.

Bo Gobin, headed to The Citadel, struck out seven Bobcats in five innings of work. Bluffton’s other hit came from Henry Holmberg.
