High school sports, April 16: John Paul II uses 5-run rally for comeback win
John Paul II erupted for five runs in the seventh inning Friday, completing the biggest comeback in the baseball program’s short history with a 9-8 triumph over Clarendon Hall.
Brad Tigges keyed the rally with a two-run double, then struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to earn the victory on the mound. Tigges went 2 1/3 innings in relief of Blake Parsons, also leading the offensive attack with three hits and three runs scored.
Parsons, Thomas Kender and Eston Parker each finished with two hits for the Golden Warriors, who led 4-1 midway through the fifth inning before Clarendon Hall battled back with six runs in the bottom of the inning.
