Beaufort softball declares Friday night ‘pink out’ to help leukemia patient

HiltonHead

Pink will be the color of choice for Beaufort High’s softball team Friday night, declaring its contest against Hilton Head Island as its “Pink Out” game to raise funds to help Nicholas Abrams and his family through his continuing treatment for leukemia.

The 9-year-old son of Jeff and Becki Abrams faces a potential three-year battle after doctors in Charleston found earlier this year that the blood cancer had returned. Nick already has endured three spinal taps and a bone marrow biopsy to go with chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Donations will go toward travel expenses and lodging, as well as loss of income as the Abramses take days off from work.

Jeff Abrams, a former golf professional, has been a kicking coach with the Eagles’ football team.
