High school sports, March 21: Seahawks finish atop tournament at Coastal Carolina
Travis Mancill fired a 1-under-par 71 and every Hilton Head Island golfer posted totals no higher than 77 as the Seahawks bested 24 other teams to win the Panther Invitational over the weekend in Conway.
The Seahawks were the only team to break 300 at the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina, with their total of 298 finishing five shots ahead of Wando. Hartsville was another three strokes back.
Mancill's 71 tied for second among individuals, two shots behind Blythewood's Matt Morninghoff. Brooks Dyess added a 73 for the Seahawks, while Charlie Farrell, Meredith Wipper and Caden Edwards all posted 77s.
GIRLS' LACROSSE
Carolina Forest 17, Beaufort 3: Jalyn O'Neal scored two goals and Alyssa Martinez added one to lead the Eagles, still winless after seven games. Goalkeeper Faith Crumley came up with 12 saves against Carolina Forest's attack.
