Prep roundup, Jan. 25: Ridgeland-Hardeeville sweeps Bluffton over weekend
The Ridgeland-Hardeeville basketball teams, each ranked in the top 10 in Class 2-A, swept Bluffton on Saturday in Bluffton.
On the boys side, the Jaguars downed the Bobcats 68-53 to improve to 13-3, 4-1 in Region 5-AA.
Trenard Ferrell led the Jaguars with 29 points, while Kam Waddy and Travon Anderson added 12 each.
Jerome Patterson led the Bobcats (11-7, 2-2 8-AAAA) with 24, while Tyrese Singleton added 13.
For the girls, Jayme Chisholm scored 15 to lead Ridgeland-Hardeeville (12-2, 5-0 5-AA) to a 57-21 victory. Ny'Jae Boozer added 10.
The Jaguars will host Silver Bluff on Tuesday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
John Paul II 52, St. Andrew's 49 (Saturday): The Golden Warriors were led by Nyleem Wright with 17 points and Karl Johnson with 14.
Beaufort 36, Hanahan 35 (Friday)
Orangeburg-Wilkinson 62, Hilton Head Island 58 (Friday)
GIRLS BASKETBALL
St. Andrew's 42, John Paul II 22 (Saturday): The Golden Warriors were led by Jasmine Hamilton and Colleton Graves, each with eight points.
St. Vincent 41, Battery Creek 31 (Saturday): Taquasia Lampkin led the Dolphins (15-8) with nine points, and Kendrianna Shojgreen scored eight.
The Dolphins will play at North Charleston at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
WRESTLING
Hilton Head Island: The Seahawks won the 14-team tournament at Islands High School near Savannah.
Champions included Logan Johnston, Alex Braden, Billy Christie, Talon Seitz and Martin Duane.
James Roberts was a runner-up.
Third-place Seahawks were Kai Liska, Eric Ashdown and Harvey King, while Matt Roberts and Chris Soler finished fourth.
