Prep roundup, Jan. 9: Thomas Heyward girls top Hilton Head Prep on road
Thomas Heyward Academy went on the road and beat Hilton Head Prep 47-37 on Friday.
The Rebels were led by 11 points each from Sydney Glassberg and Ellie Bryan.
Hilton Head Prep led 9-8 at the end of the first quarter but Thomas Heyward took a 21-12 lead at the half.
The leading scorer for the Dolphins was Catherine Sheehan with 12 points.
Prep fell to 5-5 and 1-1 in region.
Battery Creek 46, North Charleston 45: The Dolphins earned a Region 6-AA win behind 19 points from Jayden Thompson.
Gigi Forehand added 12 and Kendrianna Shojgreen scored 10.
St. Andrews 49, Hilton Head Christian Academy 40: The Eagles fell short despite 34 points from senior Zi Doe.
The game was tied at 19 at the half before Emily Sams connected on three 3-pointers in the third quarter to give St. Andrews a five-point lead. Free throws down the stretch sealed the game for the Lions.
HHCA (5-6) played Saturday at Memorial.
JV: John Paul II 40, Bible Baptist 22
BOYS BASKETBALL
Academic Magnet 53, Whale Branch 48: The Warriors got 15 points from Cam Miller and 12 from George Delaney but fell to Academic Magnet.
Bryson Rose led the Raptors with a game-high 21 points.
