Prep roundup, Jan. 6: Beaufort girls improve to 11-2 with win over Colleton Co.
Three Eagles scored in double figures Tuesday as Beaufort improved to 11-2 for the season with a 50-46 win over Class 4-A Colleton County at home.
The Eagles were led by Naijuia Moyd with 14 points. Imari Smalls added 11 points and Breanna Heyward-White scored 10.
In the final game before region 8-AAA play, Beaufort plays at 6 p.m. Saturday at Whale Branch.
Battery Creek 39, Hilton Head Island 9: In their final game before region play, the Dolphins rolled at Hilton Head Island High School.
Gigi Forhand led Battery Creek (10-6) with nine points. Jayden Thompson added eight, while Kendrianna Shojgreen and Dasani Dilbert each scored six.
Battery Creek opens Region 6-AA play at 6 p.m. Friday when the Dolphins host North Charleston.
St. Andrews 47, Beaufort Academy 22: The Eagles fell to 5-3 as Sissy Mungin led BA at home in the loss with 10 points.
Mary Keane added six for BA. Grace Turner and Emily Sims led St. Andrews with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Beaufort Academy plays Jan. 12 at Hilton Head Prep.
Hilton Head Prep 36, Bible Baptist 26: The Eagles broke open a tight game -- they led 21-20 after three quarters -- for their first region win.
Catherine Sheehan led the Dolphins (5-4, 1-0) with 25 points.
Hilton Head Prep hosts Thomas Heyward Academy at 6 p.m. Friday.
Middle school: St. Francis 31, Thomas Heyward Academy 4
BOYS BASKETBALL
Beaufort Academy 41, St. Andrews 35: The Eagles tightened up on defense and overcame a 23-17 halftime deficit to win at home Tuesday, allowing just 12 second-half points.
The Eagles' Kevin Williams led all scorers with 19 points.
BA improves to 6-2 (3-0) and will travel Friday to Bethesda Academy.
JV: Beaufort Academy 29, St. Andrews 32
Hilton Head Prep 49, Bible Baptist 39: Josh Polk and Kwame Agyei-Minta each had double-doubles for the Dolphins on the road.
Polk led the team with 13 points and added 10 rebounds, while Agyei-Minta had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Hilton Head Prep hosts Thomas Heyward Academy on Friday.
JV: Hilton Head Prep 34, Bible Baptist 25
Beaufort 59, Colleton County 57: Kameron Jenkins led the Eagles with 12 points Tuesday, while Marcus Owens, Monty White and Dajour Cleveland each added 10 points.
Beaufort is back in action at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Whale Branch.
Charleston Cathedral 60, Hilton Head Prep 36 (Dec. 29): Josh Polk led the Dolphins with 12 points.
