Prep roundup, Dec. 9: Doe scores 41 in Hilton Head Christian loss
Back-to-back 3-pointers by Molly Mauldin and Brooke Bourne with less than two minutes remaining in the game helped give Frederica Academy a 67-63 win over Hilton Head Christian Academy on Tuesday night on St. Simons Island, Ga.
The game was a back-and-forth affair that saw the score tied at the half and at the end of the third quarter and neither team leading by more than five at any point.
The Eagles (3-3) were led by senior Ziaira Doe, who dominated the offensive side of the game with 41 points. Freshman Jossie Frazier chipped in with 14.
Mauldin scored 25, and Bourne added 21 for Frederica.
HHCA will host Hilton Head Island at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Hilton Head Prep 54, John Paul II 22: Catherine Sheehan led the Dolphins (2-1) with 18 points, while Madison Hart added 10.
Eighth-grader Kierstin scored eight points and added eight assists.
Prep hosts Frederica Academy on Friday.
Whale Branch 44, Bluffton 36: Jonae Riley led the Warriors with 22 points, while Nichole Smalls added seven.
T. Donaldson led Bluffton with 10.
Beaufort Academy 52, Charleston Collegiate 27: Four players finished in double figures for the Eagles (3-0).
Amelia Huebel had with her second consecutive double-double and led all scorers with 13 points. She added 11 rebounds.
Mary Keane poured in 12 points, six steals and three assists, while Allison Suber and Emily Ann Hiers added 10 points each. Suber also recorded four blocks and nine rebounds.
BA faces St. Andrew's in the Thomas Heyward Academy Coca-Cola Classic on Thursday in Ridgeland.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Hilton Head Prep 75, John Paul II 32: Mac Orie and Preston MacTavish led the way with 14 points apiece as 10 players scored for the Dolphins.
Josh Polk added 12 points, while Orie and Ian Plummer each had six rebounds.
Battery Creek 63, Hilton Head Island 54, OT: Hilton Head Island overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to force overtime against Battery Creek, but the Dolphins hit seven of nine free throws in the extra frame to close out the victory.
Battery Creek (3-0) was led by Isaiah Mayes with 17, Adonis Williams with 15 and Trevin Simmons with 13.
Hilton Head (1-2) got 26 from Bryce Singleton, 14 from Trevor Wright and 12 from Troy Clifford.
Thomas Heyward Academy 47, Andrew Jackson Academy 43: Will Weaver turned in a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Rebels (2-1).
Birji Patel added nine for THA, which hosts the Coca-Cola Classic on Thursday and Friday.
Bluffton 59, Whale Branch 49: Patterson led the way against the Warriors with 21 points, while Tyrese Sandgren added 18 for the Bobcats.
Kenny Brown scored 15, and Cam Miller added 14 for the Warriors.
Charleston Collegiate 84, Beaufort Academy 41: Beaufort Academy was led by Kevin Williams, who scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
Luke Harper added 15 for the Eagles (1-2).
Kegon Boone led Charleston Collegiate with 32 points.
The Eagles take on St. Andrew's in the Thomas Heyward Academy Coca-Cola Classic on Thursday.
Beaufort 73, Colleton County 58: Matt Garay scored 27 to lead four Eagles in double figures.
Kendrick Dopson added 13 off the bench, and Marcus Owens and Monty White scored 10 each.
Beaufort will host Whale Branch on Friday.
