Prep roundup, Nov. 2: Hilton Head sweeps 3-A Lower State cross country qualifier

The Hilton Head Island boys and girls cross country teams swept the Class 3-A Lower State qualifier titles on Saturday to advance to the state championship.

Seahawks Sarah Cooke (19:40) and Danny Shaughnessy (16:21) won the girls and boys races, respectively.

The Seahawks, defending boys and girls champions, advance to Saturday's state championship at the Sandhills Research Center in Columbia.

Beaufort's girls finished seventh, led by Taylor Maddox (32nd, 23:08) to advance to the state chapionship. The boys finished eighth, failing to qualify for the final.
