John Paul II drops final home game of season

John Paul II Catholic School's final home game of the season did not go as planned, as the Golden Warriors fell to Charleston Collegiate 62-20 at Hardeeville.

The Golden Warriors' scores in the first half came on long rushes from scrimmage -- a 35-yard run by Mark Tigges and a 54-yard run by quarterback Karl Johnson.

The Sun Devils' balanced attack garnered 225 first-half yards and an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown on the way to a 50-14 halftime lead.

The second half proved to be more of the same with the remaining scores by both sides coming off of big plays.

For John Paul II (1-8, 1-6), Tigges and Johnson rushed for 80 and 73 yards, respectively.

Charleston Collegiate's leading rushers, Kegan Boone and Jermaine Snyder, each gained 70 yards.

The Golden Warriors will travel next week to Beaufort Academy.
