Ashley Ridge scores 27 unanswered points to bury Bluffton, 53-28
It looked like Bluffton might hand Ashley Ridge its first defeat of the season Friday, but the Swamp Foxes (8-0, 2-0 8-AAAA) scored 27 unanswered points to erase a two-point Bobcats lead at the start of the fourth quarter and roll to a 53-28 win.
Hunter Eldridge's 2-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave Bluffton (5-3, 0-1) a 28-19 lead, but Malik Middleton later returned an interception of Eldridge to the Bluffton 3. Cyrus Clark ran it in from a yard out to make the score 28-26 at the half.
After Steven Duncan's 8-yard scoring pass to Darius Williams gave Ashley Ridge the lead back, Russel Montgomery iced the game for the Swamp Foxes.
Montgomery scored on a 60-yard punt return, then a 98-yard interception return to put the game out of reach.
The Bobcats picked Duncan off three times, one each by Cotey McKie, Lorenz Taylor and Terrance Heyward.
