Weather, flooding continues to push back high school football schedule
The weekend is gone, and just two of the 11 area high school football games scheduled for Week 6 have been played, with at least six more being pushed back another day to Tuesday because of heavy rains and flooding across the Lowcountry.
The opposing teams in all of the area's games involving public schools can't play Monday by rule because school has been canceled in those districts. Those games have been pushed back.
In at least one case, the delays have already affected Week 7. In order to have an adequate break between games, Hilton Head Island's Friday game at Berkeley has been postponed until 6 p.m. Saturday.
John Paul II's home game with Ridge Christian is still on for Monday, according to Golden Warriors athletics director Matt Dakolios.
Beaufort Academy athletics director Neal McCarty said the Eagles' game at Charleston Collegiate is still on, as of now, but he expected a decision around 10 a.m. Monday.
