Former Beaufort High School and University of South Carolina star Devin Taylor signed a four-year rookie contract Thursday with the Detroit Lions.

The Lions' fourth-round pick in April's NFL draft received a signing bonus of just more than $300,000, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Taylor and first-round draft pick Ziggy Ansah -- who has yet to agree on a contract -- are expected to fill immediate roles for the Detroit, which must replace starting defensive ends Cliff Avril and Kyle Vanden Bosch. Avril signed a free-agent deal with the Seattle Seahawks and Vanden Bosch was released to save salary cap space.
