Hilton Head Christian junior voted Island Packet HS Football Player of Week

The final week of the high school football regular season is in the books.

The votes are in, and Hilton Head Christian’s Joey Haupt won the vote for The Island Packet’s High School Football Player of the Week. Thanks for all who voted this year. This was the last poll for the season.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

This is the last one we will do for the high school football season.

Player of the Week Nominees

Thaddeus Czarnecki, RB/LB, Hilton Head Island: The junior rushed for 169 yards, three touchdowns, returned a 92 punt for a TD and also returned a fumble 65 yards for a TD in the win over Beaufort. He finished with eight tackles (4 for loss) and a sack.

Joey Haupt, WR/DB, Hilton Head Christian: Junior had six catches for 218 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Hilton Head Prep. On defense, he had 12 tackles (3 for loss).

Aedan McCarthy, QB, Bluffton: Senior was 18-of-27 passing for 217 yards, two touchdowns and also carried it nine times for 95 yards and a score in a win over May River.

Tony O’Banner, RB, Thomas Heyward: Senior ran for four touchdowns in a win over Beaufort Academy.

Sean Phalen, DE, John Paul II: Junior had nine tackles (3 for loss), two sacks and caused a fumble against Pinewood Prep.
