HS Football Roundup: Hilton Head Island wins key region matchup over May River

The ninth week of high school football action is in the books. Here is a look at how area public and private school teams fared on Friday night:

Hilton Head 31, May River 15: The Seahawks took over first place in the Region 6-4A while handing the Sharks their first loss of the season.

Thaddeus Czarnacki had a 54-yard touchdown run and also returned a fumble 40 yards for a score. Jayvin Risher added a 13-yard TD and QB Derrick Raniszewski had a 9-yard score in the win.

Luc Tran had a TD run for May River and the Sharks also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Bluffton 54, Colleton County 12: Quarterback Aedan McCarthy threw for 392 yards and six touchdowns as the Bobcats won their sixth game of the season.

McCarthy also ran for a TD in the win.

Carnell Warren caught eight passes for 95 yards to lead the Bluffton receivers. Amare Patterson had four catches for 104 yards and a TD. Running back Kordell Holley rushed for 99 yards and a TD.

Bishop England 24, Beaufort 14: The Bishops scored a pair of second-quarter touchdowns to win their second straight game over the Eagles.

John Paul II 47, Thomas Heyward 21: The Warriors scored 40 points in the first half on their way to a win over the Rebels.

Jadon Inabinett had two touchdown runs and Andrew Boyden also had two TDs. One of Boyden’s touchdowns was a fumble return.

Alan Wolf added a TD run and Joseph Snyder threw a TD pass.

Joshua Gibson had three touchdown runs for THA.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt 50, Ridgeland 0: Top-ranked B-E snapped Ridgeland’s four-game winning streak.

Hilton Head Prep 17, St. John’s Christian 14: The Dolphins picked up their second win of the season.

Colleton Prep 28, Beaufort Academy 14: Colleton defeated the Eagles to win the region title in a resumption of a game that started last month.

Devin Fripp had a kickoff return for a touchdown and Nych Underwood also had a TD run for BA.

Lake Marion 28, Whale Branch 26: The Warriors dropped a home region contest to Lake Marion.
