Running back Sean Mitchell voted Island Packet HS Football Player of Week

The eighth week of the high school football regular season is in the books.

The votes are in, and May River’s Sean Mitchell won the vote for The Island Packet’s High School Football Player of the Week. Thanks for all who voted. There will be a new poll on Tuesday.

Player of the Week Nominees

Hayne Burden, DT, Hilton Head Christian: Sophomore had 16 tackles (3 for loss), two sacks and blocked a field goal in a win over First Baptist.

Jadon Inabinett, RB, John Paul II: Freshman had 17 carries for 102 yards and a TD in a win over Hilton Head Prep.

Cordell McClain, DT, Ridgeland: Senior had 12 tackles (2 for loss) and blocked a punt in shutout win over Allendale-Fairfax.

Sean Mitchell, RB/CB, May River: Senior carried it 32 times for 178 yards, two touchdowns and had four tackles in a win over Bishop England.

Tony O’Banner, RB, Thomas Heyward: Running back had three touchdowns in a win over Andrew Jackson Academy.

James Thomas, LB, Beaufort: Senior had 11 tackles (2 for loss) in shutout win over Colleton County.
