May River linebacker back voted Island Packet HS Football Player of Week

The seventh week of the high school football regular season is in the books.

The votes are in, and May River’s Michael Poole won the vote for The Island Packet’s High School Football Player of the Week.

Player of the Week Nominees

Thaddeus Czarnecki, RB/LB, Hilton Head Island: Junior had 21 carries for 187 yards, three touchdowns on offense. On defense, he had seven tackles (2 for loss), a sack and interception.

Josh Gibson, QB, Thomas Heyward: Senior ran for three touchdowns and threw one in the THA’s win over Patrick Henry.

Malcolm Gordon, LB, Bluffton: Junior had 10 tackles (3 for loss) and a sack in the win over Beaufort.

Aedan McCarthy, QB, Bluffton: Senior was 21-of-28 passing for 478 yards, a TD and also carried it 13 times for 47 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Beaufort.

Jadon Inabinett, RB, John Paul II: Freshman carried it 10 times for 243 yards, two touchdowns and also caught a 37-yard pass in the win over First Baptist.

John Paul II offensive line: The group made up of LT Griffen Spencer, LG Spencer Murphy, C Payne Campanella, RG Russell Spencer, RT Will Debrovner, TE Sean Phalen was key as the Warriors rushed for 440 yards and five touchdowns in the over five rushing touchdowns in the win over First Baptist.

Michael Poole, LB, May River: Sophomore had six tackles (1 for loss), a sack and quarterback pressure in the win over Colleton County.

Taishun Smith, QB, Ridgeland: Junior was 20-of-28 passing for 227 yards, three touchdowns and carried it three times for 19 yards in the win over Denmark-Olar.
