HS Football Roundup: Beaufort, Hilton Head Island roll to lopsided victories
The fifth week of high school football action is in the books. Here is a look at how area public and private school teams fared on Friday night:
Hilton Head Island 45, Hampton County 21: Jayvin Risher ran for three touchdowns as the Seahawks handed Hampton County its second straight loss.
The game was delayed by almost two hours because of lightning.
Jeremiah Walters returned an interception for a touchdown and also caught a TD pass from Derrick Raniszewski. Thaddeus Czarnecki had a TD run for HHI.
Beaufort 48, Battery Creek 0: Brayden Moyd-Smalls threw a TD pass and ran for one while Bryson Broadwater had two TDs rushing in the Eagles’ victory
K’Mari Mizell had a TD run and Kaveon Young scored on a punt blocked by Chaz Brown.
Hammond 56, Hilton Head Christian 0: The Skyhawks rolled up 527 yards of offense in the win over the Eagles.
Levi Myers had two touchdown runs and quarterbacks Ben Kiser and Cade Amell each threw TD passes. Leyton LeMotte had a defensive TD.
Hilton Head Prep 24, Augusta Christian 7: The Dolphins went on the road and picked up their first win of the season.
Lucy Beckham 35, Bluffton 20: The Bobcats suffered their first loss of the season.
Jack Lamonica ran for three touchdowns and QB Finn Gunter had one.
Dorchester Academy 21, Beaufort Academy 8: Dorchester scored twice in the fourth quarter to hand Beaufort Academy its first loss of the season.
Nych Underwood had a TD run for BA.
Philip Simmons 46, Whale Branch 6: Hayes Goddard threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns in the Iron Horses’ victory.
Ashton Kellerman caught eight passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Patrick Clarke also caught two TD passes.
Lee Central 26, Hardeeville 21: The Stallions handed Hardeeville its fourth straight loss.
