May River running back voted Island Packet HS Football Player of Week
The third week of the high school football regular season is in the books.
The votes are in, and May River’s Sean Mitchell won the vote for The Island Packet’s High School Football Player of the Week.

Player of the Week Nominees
Aedan McCarthy, QB, Bluffton: Senior was 18 of 28 passing for 459 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Savannah Country Day (Ga.).
Sean Mitchell, RB, May River: Senior carried it 28 times for 194 yards, two touchdowns and caught a 25-yard pass in a win over Lake City.
Jayvin Risher, RB/LB, Hilton Head Island: Junior carried it 19 times for 159 yards, two touchdowns and caught a 3-yard TD pass. On defense, he had four tackles (1 for loss) and returned an interception 60 yards for a TD.
Nic Shuford, QB, Beaufort Academy: Sophomore was 6 of 8 passing for 133 yards, two touchdowns and carried it eight times for 102 yards and a TD in a win over Patrick Henry.
Cooper Simpson, LB, Bluffton: Junior had eight tackles (two for loss), forced two fumbles in a win over Savannah Country Day (Ga.).
I’veon Watson, DL/OL, Whale Branch: Senior had nine tackles (three for loss) and four sacks in a win over Ridgeland.
