May River stays perfect. Beaufort, John Paul II, Ridgeland among area football winners

A roundup from Thursday and Friday’s high school football action in the Lowcountry

May River 35, Bishop England 8

May River moved to 6-0 on the season with an impressive performance against Bishop England.

The 6-0 start is the Sharks’ best start since winning six straight to begin the 2019 season.

Andrew Johnson ran for a pair of touchdowns for the Sharks. Asa Haskins, Sean Mitchell and Gage Duncan also had TD runs for May River.

Beaufort 23, Colleton County 0

Caleb Stephan threw for two touchdowns and ran for one in the Eagles’ victory.

Stephan was 10-of-15 passing for 124 yards in the air and also carried it 12 times for 93 yards. Qualeek Isnar and Will Codding had TD catches.

John Paul II 40, Hilton Head Prep 0

Bryant Jolley had 211 yards rushing and four touchdowns for the Warriors.

Quarterback Alan Wolf and Andrew Boyde also had touchdown runs for John Paul II.

Thomas Heyward 48, Andrew Jackson Academy 6

The Rebels scored 41 points in the first half in the win over AJA. THA is now 6-1 on the season.

Kiran Boggess threw for two touchdowns and Tony O’Banner ran for two in THA’s win.

Whale Branch 20, Edisto 18

The Warriors snapped a two-game losing streak with a win over Edisto.

Ridgeland 12, Allendale-Fairfax 0

Ridgeland earned its first shutout of the season in the win over Allendale-Fairfax.

Beaufort Academy 48, Faith Christian 6

The Eagles won their sixth game of the season with a dominating win over Faith Christian.

QB Dietrich Shuford was 8-of-9 passing for 105 yards, a TD and also carried six times for 93 yards and a TD. Nych Underwood rushed for 108 yards and a TD.

Beaufort Academy’s defense had four sacks and picked off three passes.

Hilton Head Christian 44, First Baptist 14 (Thursday)

The Eagles turned in a strong performance in their first game in a little over two weeks.

QB Reid McCollum rushed for four TDs and also threw one for HHCA. McCollum was 10-of-19 passing for 155 yards and also carried it 18 times for 74 yards. The Eagles’ defense had seven sacks and picked off two passes.

Hilton Head-Bluffton postponed

The Hilton Head and Bluffton game is scheduled for Thursday because of high winds in the forecast and will be made up on Nov. 8.
