May River running back voted Island Packet’s high school football Player of the Week

The votes are in, and May River running back Asa Haskins wins the vote for Island Packet’s High School Football Player of the Week.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun. Congrats to all the nominees.

This Week’s Player of Week nominees

Asa Haskins, RB, May River: Senior carried it nine times for 145 yards, a touchdown and also had a catch for 25 yards in a win over West Ashley.

Kordell Holley, RB, Bluffton: Sophomore running back rushed it 19 times for 160 yards, two touchdowns and also caught a pass for 31 yards in a win over Andrew Jackson.

Joey Houpt, WR, Hilton Head Christian: Sophomore had 13 receptions for 138 yards in win over Bethesda.

Bryant Jolley, RB, John Paul II: Jolley carried it 17 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns in loss to Battery Creek.

Reid McCollum, QB, Hilton Head Christian: Junior was 31-of-40 passing for 321 yards, two touchdowns and also carried it 17 times for 68 yards and two touchdowns in win over Bethesda.

Tony O’Banner, QB, Thomas Heyward: Junior was 7-of-7 passing for 94 yards, a touchdown and also carried it 13 times for 260 yards and three scores in a win over Colleton Prep.

Xavier Plowdeniz, LB, Ridgeland: Senior had 15 tackles, two for loss in the defeat against East Clarendon.

Derrick Smalls, WR/DB, Battery Creek: Senior had more than two all-purpose yards in a win over John Paul II. Smalls also had an interception return and punt return for a score.

Nych Underwood, RB/LB, Beaufort Academy: Junior carried it 19 times for 170 yards and three touchdowns on offense. On defense, he had seven tackles, caused a fumble and recovered a fumble.
